Well, that was a dramatic end to the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. What an absolutely amazing season it has been. I could try and write a synopsis for all of the madness that has occurred over the past 22 episodes, but that would be boring. Plus that isn’t the point of this article. Let’s just say; The two part season finale is pretty much the definition of this season. Action fuelled, arse-kicking awesomeness!

Marvel often excel at expanding their cinematic universe, especially when it comes to crossing between the various teams. It allows them to develop the story of individual characters and help build the world that exists outside of the films. Well, usually they are, this week seemed like a bit of a disappointment.

We are quickly approaching the end of this season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and in some places it has been so hard to keep up. So much has happened, so many plot twists, so many action sequences, emotional moments and kick-ass story lines. We come to this episode being unable to tell where everyone's allegiances lie. The tension is palpable as the episode builds to a thrilling climax. by Leah Stone Since the mid-season finale, the quality of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episodes has gone downhill, there’s no way around it. The first half of the series was very strong, exploring the powers of the obelisk and Skye’s change. But now the action has dropped off, the plot lacks any real depth and the new characters we are introduced to are weak. by Leah Stone So, what do you do when your show has reached the mid-season finale? You create something explosive. A bomb that changes everything, that confuses people, excites people, scares people, makes you curious, but then leaves you to wait for the debris to settle before you can find out what happens next. by Leah Stone Last week we learnt what the drawings that Coulson keeps carving actually mean, causing the team to search for the city that the drawings mapped out. We see many plotlines take place, making the episode fast paced, manic and, perhaps, a little bit too busy. by Leah Stone Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returned this week with a jaw-dropping, action filled and heart wrenching episode to kick off season two. Lets start with the two negatives, since its 95% positive: Skye’s new haircut doesn’t suit her and we are told nothing about these new recruits and why we should trust them, since one of them seems only in it for the money. By Helen Langdon Today sees not just one piece of good news for TV news for Marvel fans, but two! Firstly, Agents of SHIELD has just been renewed for season two – good timing, considering the season finale airs in just a few days’ time. It’s the series that gets to show the wider implications of events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as the clean-up of London after Thor: The Dark World, and surviving in the climate of betrayal after Captain America: The Winter Soldier. But that’s not the most important news. Rumours have been flying around for months, and today it was confirmed that ABC will be airing a full series of Agent Carter, with Hayley Atwell starring as the character first introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger. |
